Untold Riches
I have been off the air for a few days because of the recent flood of daguerreotype resources into my life. I can believe that Jonathan Danforth has declared it “The Year of the Daguerreotype“. First Jon Lewis opens DagForum.com- a site for discussing contemporary daguerreotypes and then the next day Alan Bekhuis of CasedImage.com announces ContemporaryDaguerreotypes.info a blog that also includes a forum and a gallery for contemporary daguerreotypists. For a moment there I was worried about two discussion sites competing for the same audience, but within a very short time an alliance had been worked out between Jon and Alan and a new combined site was born. Bravo. I am looking forward to the discussions.
As if all that weren’t enough, the Reprints from The Daguerreian Society came. I hardly know what to do with myself. I have finished the first half, and can already say the it is the best resource I have yet encountered for the budding daguerreotypist. I consider it a must have. I will write a post soon outlining some of the included articles.
Now – on to a quick check of the forums!
