Received a very kind return email from Charlie Schreiner today giving me the go-ahead to use the “The Daguerreotypist” title for this web page. It was very energizing to hear from him, making the whole enterprise feel more real. Charlie suggested that I devote whatever little time I have into actually learning and practicing the Daguerreotype process rather than worrying about web sites. He pointed out that getting skilled in the process itself is difficult enough to take all my energy.
I think I would follow his advice if I had the money to simply buy all the equipment and get started.
As it stands though, researching is more within reach at the moment – so the website is a convenient way to track what I discover. I have never been the speedy racer type anyway. I usually plan for good while before I figure ot the path I want to take. Besides, websites are pretty easy to make.
In any case I was grateful and happy to hear from him. I will spend the the rest of my free time today and for the next few days setting up WordPress on my web host and figuring out how to use it.
